http://www.geog.qmul.ac.uk/admissions/phdadmissions/apply/index.html

with advice and guidance on how to put together a Research Proposal available here: http://www.geog.qmul.ac.uk/admissions/phdadmissions/proposal/index.html

Candidates applying for Studentships 4 and 5 may choose which School they wish their application to be processed through, depending on the location of their preferred Primary Supervisor, and should follow the application process for that School.

Applicants for Studentship 4 should therefore mark their application for the attention of EITHER the School of Geography (following the application process outlined above) OR the School of History, following the application process outlined here: http://www.history.qmul.ac.uk/postgraduate/research/apply/index.html

Applicants for Studentship 6 should mark their application for the attention of the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences, following the application process outlined here: http://www.sbcs.qmul.ac.uk/prospectivestudents/research/howtoapply/index.html

In addition, ALL candidates must also provide a further 750-1000 word Research Summary (to be attached to their application) that addresses the following questions:

  • What is the subject of your proposed doctoral dissertation? (500 words max) Please include a brief title.
  • Why is Queen Mary the right place for you to undertake this research?
  • What ethical issues—if any—are relevant to your research?
  • What research training and professional preparation have you already received?
  • What further training and professional preparation will you need to complete the doctorate and begin your career?

It is recognised that there will be some repetition across these materials, and we expect that your Research Summary will be in part a distillation of points already made in your main Research Proposal and Statement of Purpose.

Applicants for the AHRC Collaborative Doctoral Award should follow the separate application procedures outlined here.
